Delitiae Musicae was formed in 2007 by two of the world’s most accomplished early musicians, Jesús Sanchez and Manuel Minguillón. A favourite of early music festivals throughout Europe, the duo regularly appear on live broadcasts with the BBC and have performed both as solo and continuo players with, among others, the Tallis Scholars, Gabrieli Consort, Kings Singers and Florilegium. They have several recordings with Naxos, Glissando, and Signum Records. Their latest recording Para Tañer Juntos con Dos Vihuelas had just been released to critical acclaim.
Jesús Sanchez and Manuel Minguillón bring to light the Spanish repertoire of the 16th or the “Golden Century” of Spanish polyphony. One of the most genuine of Spanish instruments, the Vihuela, flourished during this time. Delitiae Musicae performs works composed for two Vihuela and duets of well-known solo Vihuela pieces.
